Why did I choose Lido di Venezia?

Lido di Venezia, just four stops from San Marco is where the Venice film Festival takes place, where you can meet the real locals of Venice…. Where life is just a little bit more relaxed.
It is here where we have opened our doors for another culinary school in Italy.
It is here where you see people holding hands feeling free to be casually romantic.
At night the allure of Venice is unbeatable and suddenly you will see Venetians having an “ombra”, a dialect word for glass of wine. The tourists which arrive in buses suddenly disappear. The atmosphere changes. The streets are half empty, the darkness wraps the city in beauty as the street lights guide you to a viale or calle…to a ponte…until you have found your final destination.

Of course you will get lost… But that is the magic. To find yourself. So let me take you there. Let me show you the way home.

The school in Venezia…

The Venice Cooking School will take you to the heart of Venezia, as well to the Veneto region giving you an authentic experience.  I will be taking you to the markets of Rialto and Chioggia.
Depending on the season we will be enjoying a variety of Venetian dishes from Risotto, Bigoli (typical pasta from Venice), to my mother’s milky polenta.

Plenty of fish and seafood straight from the markets, radicchio and a variety of spices taking you to the real Venezia. After all the Venetians were known since the ninth century as “spice dealers”, with access to the east markets. As spices became a commodity, so the flavours were introduced in our cooking.

Spices like cloves, cinnamon, ginger, pepper, saffron, nutmeg became part of our lives.
Friuli Cooking will also be on the menu where you will find senape, mostarda, salsa verde and tempting recipes such as their cjalcons, one of the best pastas I have ever had!
Desserts in the Venetian region are the classical Tiramisu (which I do make a memorable cake) or the exquisite torta di Rucola (rocket cake – not bitter at all – just perfect!) or we might end with a delightful sgroppino.

Taking a day at a time and inhaling this beautiful experience slowly… Allowing yourself to be exactly who you are…
