Caramelised Spiced Pears

SPICED PEARS:

 

 

Ingredients

 

  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1 cinnamon stick broken into pieces
  • 4 cloves
  • 1 large lemon sliced
  • 6 large pears peeled and cut into eights

 

 

Instructions

 

  • Make a syrup with the sugar, water, cinnamon, cloves & lemon.
  • Poach the pears in the syrup.
  • Remove the pears and discard the lemons.
  • Reduce the syrup by half, strain and set aside.
  • Place pears in a single layer on a foil-lined oven tray and bake at 170c until caramelised and golden.
  • Return to the syrup and cool.
